Teaching in Primary Schools
Sarah is a fully qualified primary school teacher, graduating from Canterbury Christ Church University with a ii.i degree in Primary Education BA with Honours and QTS in 2011. Four years were then spent as a full time primary school teacher, and since then Sarah has worked in schools in Sheffield, Nottingham, and Warwickshire as a supply teacher (in between painting for a living), and as an art teacher for primary schools. Sarah has delivered one off workshops for schools tailored to their requirements and school topics, painted murals and friendship benches often with the help of the school children, and is currently working as ‘Artist in Residence’ for a local school.
If you would like any support teaching Art and Design in your school, please contact Sarah who will be happy to advise you free of charge. Sarah is only doing regular work in schools in these following areas at present: Warwick, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Banbury, and Stratford-Upon-Avon, so if you think your school is in or near to these areas and you would like Sarah to get involved, please contact her with your enquiry.
Adult Art Classes
Sarah is heavily involved with her local art group, and from this was asked to plan and deliver art sessions for the ‘beginner’ adult art group. The positive feedback that has come from these sessions (which Sarah continues to support), has led to Sarah now planning and delivering workshops for more adults (with a range of abilities). Sarah’s sessions share her knowledge of painting in oils, with a particular focus on how to paint skies (as specifically requested by the art groups). However, as in true teacher fashion, Sarah will tailor her sessions to her audience’s needs, abilities, and interests; so please feel free to suggest topics of interest for you and your group.
